We were excited to see so many elementary families at last week’s Open House and look forward to seeing all of our families at our Back-to-School Picnic on September 22nd. Please plan to join us for a fun-filled evening.
AIG: The first-semester nomination window for the Academically and Intellectually Gifted (AIG) program is open until Friday, September 30th, for fourth through eighth-grade students. Parents and teachers can nominate students. Our new AIG Teacher is Ms. Jennifer Badalamenti. If you have questions, please contact her at email@example.com.
Carpool: Thank you for your patience in this week’s carpool line as we added our kindergarten families. We were finally moving a bit faster Thursday afternoon and Friday morning and believe that is a good sign for the remainder of the school year. As always, please adhere to carpool procedures by displaying your tag, staying off of your cell phone and paying attention to the line. Be mindful that letting your children out of the car on Hilburn Drive and then attempting to make a U-turn on Hilburn or turning into the apartment complex to turn around is dangerous for our students and causes carpool line delays and accident risks. We appreciate your efforts to keep the line moving and our students safe!
Common Core and Vocabulary: As your students begin the school year, we want to offer you information about how you can support your students at home. We begin this journey with information on vocabulary instruction. Please access this link for a better understanding of vocabulary tiers and principles of instruction and support.
Kindergarten and Seventh-Grade Immunizations: Immunization letters went home with students on Friday, and we must have documentation that all kindergarten and seventh-grade students are up to date on their immunizations by Friday, September 30th. Please know the law requires students without verified or in-progress immunization records to be excluded from school starting Monday, October 3rd.
Middle-School Athletics: If your student is playing a fall sport at Leesville Road and you have not connected with Nicole Jones, please e-mail her at firstname.lastname@example.org. She will serve as our liaison to LRMS.
Middle-School Carpool Updates: Middle-school clubs start this week, and in order to expedite middle-school students’ entry into the building for 7:45 meetings, we are making some adjustments.
- Middle-school students who are participating in 7:45 club meetings may be dropped off in the bus loop starting at 7:35.
- Drivers using the bus loop should plan to turn right off Hilburn Drive.
- Carpool use of the bus loop should conclude by 7:45.
Middle-School Clubs: Various middle-school clubs will begin meeting this week from 7:45 to 8:10. If you are interested in learning more about our club options, please visit our website. Young women who are interested in participating in Heart and Sole can continue to register through September 23rd. Please contact Angela Bowman at email@example.com with questions.
