We enjoyed hosting many of our volunteers for breakfast on Friday and were thrilled to have so many in attendance. Thank you for joining us and for all you do to support our community. This Thursday, June 9, is the last day of school. Students will come home with their report cards and letters with tips to support students in literacy, math and the 4 Cs: collaboration, communication, critical thinking and creative thinking.
We are looking forward to our last days of the 2015-2016 school year and the many celebrations these days will bring! Many of our students are enjoying “moving up” celebrations and field days over the next few days, and thanks to our wonderful PTA, all Pre-K and elementary students will enjoy a dance, DJ and Kona Ice this Tuesday, the 7th, and our sixth and seventh graders will enjoy a field day this Thursday, the 9th.
Our eighth graders have been busily painting their mural on the middle-school hallway, and it is now finished. They voted on the Gandhi quotation, “Be the change you wish to see in the world,” and all were able to sign their names around it. Our eighth-grade celebration is this Thursday, the 9th, at 10:00. We welcome families to begin entering the multipurpose room at 9:15 and to join us afterward for light refreshments.
We invite all fifth-grade families to join their students for their promotion ceremony at 1:00 this Thursday, the 9th. This ceremony will be in the multipurpose room.
Parents, we want your feedback as we begin preparing for the 2016-2017 school year. Please take a few minutes to address these survey questions.
Parents of rising first through fifth graders, information about your child’s unique learning needs is important in making appropriate placement, and you have an opportunity to share information you believe may be helpful. Please print, complete and return the parent input form by June 9, 2016 at 3:00. Requests to be placed with specific teachers or specific students will not be honored. Please be aware that there are many factors we must consider in making classroom placements. Your input will be considered along with the needs of the entire grade level to form classrooms that will provide the most productive learning environments for all students.
Hilburn will be open each day this summer from 8:00 to 3:00 with the exception of July 4th. Please contact us if we can help you. Have a great last week and a wonderful summer.
