We are looking forward to seeing all of you this Thursday, September 22nd, for our Back-to-School Picnic. Please plan to join us and to bring the whole family. We also want to celebrate two of our teachers, Mrs. Kristin Burnette and Mrs. Michelle Hill. Mrs. Burnette and Mrs. Hill were recognized on Sunday as the ARC of the Triangle’s Teachers of the Year. Mrs. Burnette and Mrs. Hill teach in our Special Education program, which is widely recognized as the best program in Wake County.
AIG: The first-semester nomination window for the Academically and Intellectually Gifted (AIG) program is open until Friday, September 30th, for fourth through eighth-grade students. Parents and teachers can nominate students. Our new AIG Teacher is Ms. Jennifer Badalamenti. If you have questions, please contact her at email@example.com.
Common Core and Vocabulary: We want to continue to share resources that will help you help our students at home. This week, we are focusing on Common Core math vocabulary. Granite School District, which is located in Utah, offers a comprehensive list of the math vocabulary by grade level as well as flash cards that match the word lists. These word lists will support your efforts to assist with your student’s homework and also allow your student to practice the basics. Scholastic also has an amazing website of parent resources. If you have not accessed these resources before, please take a look. We will be highlighting some in the weeks to come.
Geography Club: We have a new Geography Club! The Geography Club will have its first meeting this Wednesday, September 21st at 7:45. This club is for fifth through eighth-grade students.
Middle-School Clubs and Carpool: Clubs will continue to host their initial meetings this week. Please remember that middle-school students joining morning club meetings may be dropped off in the bus loop starting at 7:35. Drivers using the bus loop should plan to turn right off Hilburn Drive, and carpool use of the bus loop should conclude by 7:45.
