EOG assessments for third through eighth graders will be going on today, tomorrow and Thursday, and our middle-school students will complete NC Final Exams on Thursday, Friday and Monday. Testing will begin at 8:30 each day and will conclude by 12:30. It is imperative that all students arrive to school on time as they will not be permitted to enter test settings late. Once testing begins for the day, students participating in an EOG or NCFE may not be checked out of school for any reason until testing has ended. Please review the EOG Test Schedule to see when your student(s) will be testing.
As students prepare for and complete assessments this week, please continue to remind them they have worked all year to be successful and know the strategies they can use to perform well. Share your confidence in them and acknowledge their hard work this school year preparing for this time.
Communication: We are expanding our communication service to include text messaging and email. Tomorrow, May 31, you will receive an opt-in message on the cell phone we have on record. We hope you will take a few moments to follow the steps to "Opt-In" to text messages, or you can simply opt-in to receive text messages by texting YES to the number 67587 now. The upgraded system also allows you to choose how you would like to be contacted. Review the Parents Guide to InfoCenter (http://bit.ly/sm-infocenter) for instructions on setting up your InfoCenter account and setting your communications preferences. More information can also be found at www.wcpss.net/schoolmessenger.
Leesville Soccer: On Thursday, June 1, there will be a meeting at 3 pm in the Leesville Middle School cafeteria for eighth-grade boy and girl soccer players. Students will be meeting with the Leesville High School soccer Coach, Coach Dinkenor.
Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast: All volunteers are invited to join us this Friday, June 2 from 8:30 to 9:30 in the cafeteria. We could not run the wonderful programs we do without your help, and we want to say thank you.
Why I Teach: This week, we highlight Ann Johnston. Mrs. Johnston has served our community as an Instructional Resource Teacher (IRT) at both the elementary and middle-school levels in the last three years. Next year, she is excited to return to the classroom as one of our second-grade teachers.
