Elementary Room Parent Program
Welcome to the Elementary Room Parent program for the 2018-2019 school year at Hilburn! PTA is excited to sponsor another year of this program that organizes parent volunteers to help elementary teachers in the classroom and with a weekly newsletter email. Questions about the program? Room Parents are appreciated Hilburn Hawks! Hilburn Academy's Room Parent Program, administered by the PTA, helps our elementary classroom teachers throughout the school year. The Room Parent Orientation Meeting for 2018-2019 will be on Friday, September 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m.
Teachers appreciate parent volunteers! Classes may have multiple RPs if the teacher would like. Though each teacher's classroom is different, signing up to be a Room Parent means you are willing to help in three main ways.
Room Parents who sign up to volunteer have three key responsibilities:
1. Room Parent Newsletter: The Room Parent Coordinator emails you brief school news and links on Mondays, and RPs add an "In Your Classroom" portion before emailing it to the classroom parents on Wednesdays.
2. Learning Experiences: RPs will work with the teacher and other parent volunteers to plan and volunteer for classroom learning experiences. Most classes have three to four learning experiences per year around holidays and end-of-year. They include students making a craft, doing something educational and having a snack.
3. Teacher Appreciation: Room Parents are the point person to organize group gifts for elementary classroom teachers and staff at the winter holidays and end-of-year.
